Compared with ordinary carbon steel plate, manganese steel plate has the following advantages. First, A514 grade B QT steel plate, manganese steel plate is convenient for welding and processing. Second, manganese steel plate has good heat resistance, and can be processed into various containers. Third, manganese steel plate has good toughness. It is not easy to fracture and has long service life. Fourth, the performance of manganese steel plate is good at low temperature. It will not fracture because of temperature, so it can be used in cold areas.
Forging method is to use forging hammer, precision forging machine, fast forging machine or hydraulic press to forge ingot into steel, billet or forging blank. Forging is the earliest A514 grade B QT steel plate processing method. Forging is divided into free forging and model forging. Forging method can obtain the finished steel with better mechanical properties and shapes that are not easy or impossible to obtain A514 grade B QT steel plate by rolling method.
There are a lot of ASTM standards for pressure vessel steel plates. Such as ASTM A204, A285, A302, A387, A515, A516, A517, A537, A612, A841, etc. Those ASTM steel plates have different thickness ranges. A514 grade B QT steel plate, ASTM A204 plates shall not thicker than 150mm. ASTM A285 plates shall not thicker than 50mm. ASTM A515 plates shall not thicker than 200mm. ASTM A517 plates and A537 plates shall not thicker than 150mm. ASTM A612 plates shall not thicker than 25mm. ASTM A841 plates shall not thicker than 100mm.
