On October 16, 2019, the Board of Directors of the World Steel Association (worldsteel) elected the following new officers for 2019/2020 at the worldsteel General Assembly in Monterrey. The new A709 Gr 50S bridge steel plate officers are elected for a one-year period: Chairman - YU Yong, Chairman, HBIS Group Co., Ltd. Vice Chairman - Sajjan JINDAL, Chairman and Managing Director, JSW Steel Limited.
A709 Gr 50S bridge steel plate, Q345B low alloy steel plate composition: 1) Low carbon: Due to the high requirements for toughness, weldability and cold forming properties, its carbon content does not exceed 0.20%; 2) Add manganese-based alloying elements; 3) Adding auxiliary elements such as niobium, titanium or vanadium: a small amount of niobium, titanium or vanadium forms fine carbides or carbonitrides in the Q345B steel, which is conducive to obtaining fine ferrite grains and improving the strength and toughness of the steel; In addition, adding a small amount of copper (≤0.4%) and phosphorus (about 0.1%) can improve the corrosion resistance. Adding a small amount of rare earth elements can desulfurize and degas, purify steel, improve toughness and process performance.
A709 Gr 50S bridge steel plate, SS400 steel is one of the most commonly used hot rolled general structural steel. SS400 steel’s mechanical properties is yield strength more than 225-235MPa, tensile strength 360-510Mpa and 340-470Mpa. For SS400 steel, the C element content is 0.2% max, the Mn element content is 1.40% max, the P element content is 0.045% max, the S element content is 0.045% max.
