After extrusion, the ASTM A709 high strength steel tube shall be removed for sizing. The sizing machine uses a cone-shaped bit to rotate into the steel embryo at high speed to drill holes to form steel pipes. The inner diameter of the steel pipe is determined by the outer diameter length of the drill bit of the sizing machine. After sizing, the steel pipe will enter the cooling tower and be cooled by water spray. After cooling, the steel pipe will be straightened. After straightening, the steel pipe is sent to the metal flaw detector (or hydraulic test) by the conveyor belt for internal flaw detection.
Welded steel pipes are made by crimping steel plates, bending them into a circle, and then welding the joints together. Seamless steel pipe is directly processed by round steel piercing or hot rolling process, so there is no weld on the outer surface. The performance of seamless steel pipe is better than that of welded steel pipe, and the price of seamless steel pipe is also higher. There are some differences in chemical composition between ASTM A709 high strength steel, welded steel pipe and seamless steel pipe. The material of welded steel pipe contains the chemical composition suitable for welding.
Japan's crude steel production is expected to fall 25.9% in the April June quarter from a year earlier, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Thursday. The Ministry of Economy and Industry quoted an industry survey report as saying that the demand for ASTM A709 high strength steel and so on steel products (including export products) in April June is expected to drop 18.1% to 18.28 million tons from the same period last year. At the same time, steel exports in the current quarter will decline by 21.4% year-on-year.
