Quenching and tempering (QT) is a double heat treatment process of quenching and high temperature tempering. In general, medium carbon steel and medium A573 Gr 70 steel sheet carbon alloy steel often need quenching and tempering treatment. Quenching and tempering can make iron and steel parts obtain a good combination of strength and toughness, with high strength, excellent toughness, plasticity, cutting performance, etc. Some A573 Gr 70 steel sheet alloy steel or low alloy steel must be quenched and tempered to obtain good comprehensive properties. These steels can also be called quenched and tempered steels.
In 2013, one of our clients in Korea purchased 890 tons Q345B square tube from us for one building construction project. Hardness comparison between Q345B steel and NM450 steel: wear resistant steel for construction machinery requires high wear resistance, high toughness, impact resistance, easy welding, easy forming and other high-performance characteristics. The main index of wear resistance is the surface hardness. The higher the hardness, the better the wear resistance. Compared with A573 Gr 70 steel sheet, Q345B steel, the hardness of NM450 steel is only increased 3 times, but the average service life is increased 6-8 times under the same working conditions.
