ASTM A537 are primarily intended for fusion welded pressure vessels and structures. Steel plates under this ASTM A588 high strength steel specification are available in three classes classified according to the different heat treatment: Class 1 (normalized), Class 2 (quenched and tempered) and Class 3 (quenched and tempered).
